Yes.
Service animals are a crucial element of their owner's life and allow for them to partake in activities that otherwise they might not be able to join. These animals are usually well-behaved and trained, and they should not be confused with Emotional Support Animals or pets. Hosts are expected to accommodate reservations where a service animal will be present, even if their listing states "No Pets", and they cannot charge extra fees for the presence of an assistance animal.
Documentation
Hosts cannot ask for documentation for a service animal. If a Guest says that they have a service animal, a Host may ask, however:
- Is the assistance animal required because of a disability?
- What work or task the animal has been trained to perform?
Health or safety concerns
If an assistance animal would create a health or safety hazard to the Host or others living at the property, please share this information in your listing so all parties can make the most informed decision. Swimply takes reports of discrimination very seriously, so please feel free to reach out to Swimply Support for guidance on how to best accommodate your guests.
A host may ask a Guest to remove a service animal if it is out of control, loud, badly behaved, or causing damage to the property. This should be communicated to the Guest clearly but politely in the Swimply chat, and a swimmer should be allowed to stay at the pool after the service animal has been removed if they wish.
