Setting Surge / Discount Pricing

Hosts now have the ability to raise or discount pricing on specific days. To do so click Calendar at the top right of your host dashboard:

Next, click Change under Price:

Next, click the specific day or group of days on your calendar you would like to discount or surge. The dates you choose will be shown under Selected Dates:

Once dates are selected, click Set a discount or surge:

Surge / Discount allows the Host to select a price modifier percentage from -90% to +90% in increments of 10 as shown below:

After clicking Apply Surge the new surge / discount pricing will display in red for surge and blue for discount for the selected dates when you click Change under Price. Your listing's normal pricing is displayed in black:

             

Additionally, you have the following actions to adjust in the frames above:

• Clear - Erase the surge / discount pricing and revert to the pricing in black for the dates selected.
• Edit - Update and make adjustments to the current surge / discount pricing for the dates selected.
• Edit discount or surge - allows you to make adjustments to the current surge / discount pricing for the dates selected.

Please Note:

• Surge: Price increases are good when demand* is very high in your area, however boosting your rates will likely hurt your conversion.
• Discount: Setting a discount is a great way to boost your search hierarchy! Hosts usually see a 40% increase in bookings with discounts.

* Gauging demand to determine whether you should discount or surge is part of your ongoing market research as a host. When in doubt, take a look at listings in your area to determine adequate pricing for specific days and holidays, etc.
