What is calendar syncing?

Calendar syncing allows you to:

1. Automatically block times on your Swimply calendar by importing events from another calendar
2. Have Swimply bookings appear on other calendars, such as your personal Google or Apple calendar

Calendar syncing keeps your calendars up to date and makes hosting easier, especially if you’re hosting on other platforms

How can I sync my Swimply calendar with an external calendar?

Swimply offers two ways to sync your calendar

1. Real-time syncing with Cronofy
2. Syncing via iCalendars

Our recommended approach uses Cronofy, a third-party software, to enable syncing in real-time. 

To get started, visit the calendar tab of the Swimply website. Calendar syncing is NOT available from the Swimply mobile app. From there, click “Availability” and then “Sync external calendars.” Select the “Sync with Cronofy” option to begin the process.

With Cronofy, calendars will sync bi-directionally

1. Swimply will automatically block time from the calendar that you sync with
2. Your Swimply bookings (along with your selected buffer window) will automatically appear on the synced calendar

Alternatively, you can sync with iCalendars. iCalendars are a file format and media type that allows users to exchange and store calendaring and scheduling information between different applications.

To get started, visit the calendar tab of the Swimply website or mobile app. From here, click “Availability” and then “Sync external calendars.”

With iCalendars, importing and exporting are separate steps. To import an iCalendar, you’ll need to paste your external calendar’s iCalendar link. To export an iCalendar, you’ll need to paste the Swimply link into your calendar client.

Note that iCalendar syncs are slower and NOT real time. Imported calendars may take up to several hours to appear in Swimply. Exported calendars may take up to 24 hours to appear on your external calendar. (This is why we recommend Cronofy!)

iCalendar Sync steps

Sync your Swimply Calendar with your personal Calendar to help keep track of your Swimply Bookings.

Keeping track of bookings just got that much easier! Seamlessly sync your Swimply calendar to Apple to Google so you never get caught off guard by a booking. Sounds cool, follow these simple steps to sync your calendar.

Here are some easy steps on how to quickly sync your Swimply calendar to Google or Apple:

Google Calendar

Log into your Swimply account on the website.

• Click on Calendar at the top of the screen
• Click on Availability
• Click on Sync to external Calendar (copies the subscription URL)

• Open Google Calendar and locate the Other calendars section on the left hand side. (It may be at the bottom). Next, click the plus sign to add a calendar

• Select option From URL and paste the link that was copied from Swimply.
• Click add Calendar

Google Calendar can take up to 24 hours to complete the Sync. Google does not constantly update the calendar (they are unclear how often they pull the data), so make sure to double check your Swimply cal for last second bookings

Apple Calendar

Log into your Swimply account on the website

• Click on Calendar at the top of the screen
• Click on Availability
• Click on Sync to external Calendar (copies the subscription URL)

• Open iCal and go to File > New Calendar Subscription

• Paste in the URL copied from Swimply and click Subscribe
• Change the Auto-Refresh settings to whatever suites you best, and click OK

And that's it! You are all set up to have your Swimply bookings sync to your personal calendar!
