Security deposits can give hosts extra peace of mind for large bookings.
When can I enable a security deposit?
Security deposits can be enabled for large bookings with 30+ guests. You will be able to set the minimum guest threshold (provided it is over 30 guests) and the amount of the security deposit.
How do I enable a security deposit?
To get started, visit the Hosting Settings section on the website or mobile app. Select “Security deposit” to get started. If you do not see this option, this means your listing is not eligible to enable a security deposit*.
What happens if a security deposit is included in a booking?
After a booking ends and you discover damage or another issue, you’ll have 24 hours to file a claim from the reservation details page. After you file the claim, customer support will reach out to you to resolve the claim. During this process, you may be required to submit additional documentation, including photos.
If you do not file a claim within 24 hours, the deposit will be refunded in full to the guest.
Security deposits can be used to cover damages or reservation overages, like extra guests or instances where the guest stayed past the end of the reservation. In the event of an overage, the Swimply host fee will be deducted from the deposit. In the event of damages, you will receive the full amount.
*Please note security deposits cannot be applied to an existing reservation after it has already been booked.
Swimply is currently unable to initiate the return of the security deposit prior to the commencement of the booking. The system requires the booking to conclude before the deposit can be refunded.
