What Are Passes?
Passes allow Guests to pay a monthly fee to become a “pass holder” at your space. After paying the fee, the guest will be able to book your space for free at specified times.
As a Host, there are three types of Passes you can add to your listing:
- Early Bird: Pass holders will be able to book your space during morning hours
- Weekday: Pass holders will be able to book your space during weekdays
- Anytime: Pass holders will be able to book your space during all days of the week
Why Should I Use Passes?
- Fill up underutilized hours: Passes are specifically designed to help you get more bookings during off-peak times
- Host repeat guests: Passes are designed for guests who want to come back, which makes hosting much easier
- Full control: Selling a Pass does NOT mean guests can enter your property without warning. There are plenty of protections in place to ensure you still have full control of your space. (See below for details)
- Boost your earnings: Overall, Passes will allow you to earn more by building guest loyalty and getting more bookings!
How Do I Set Up Passes?
Visit the Marketing tab in your host dashboard to get started:
From there, you’ll be able to:
- Choose a Pass: Decide which Pass(es) you want to sell
-
Set up a Pass: Set your own parameters for the following
- Availability: When can the pass be used
- Guest limit: Up to how many total guests can attend a Pass booking
- Amenities: What amenities are included with the Pass
- Monthly Fee: How much the guest pays per month for the Pass
- Enable or disable Pass sales
- You’ll have the ability to start and stop selling Passes whenever you want
What Protections are in Place to Give Me Control Over my Space?
As a host, you will have ultimate control over the dimensions of your Pass and how pass holders make bookings:
-
Availability: even though Swimply has provided 3 potential Pass templates, you still have control over exactly when the Pass is available
- Early Bird: while this Pass is designed for morning bookings, you will be able to decide the exact hours and days of the week it can be used
- Weekday: while this Pass is designed for weekday bookings, you will be able to decide the exact hours and whether Friday is included
- Anytime: while this Pass must be enabled for all days of the week, you will be able to decide the exact hours it can be used
- Booking limits: pass holders are limited to one booking per day. You will also be able to set the maximum number of hours for a single Pass booking
- Guest limits and included amenities: when setting up your pass, you will be able to determine the maximum number of guests that the pass can be used for. You will also be able to select which amenities are included with the pass
-
Booking rules: pass holders are still subject to ALL of your listing’s usual booking rules, including:
- Instant vs request booking settings
- Advanced notice requirements
- Buffer time between bookings
-
Calendar availability: pass holders are still subject to your general calendar availability. Even if a time slot falls within the Pass hours, they will NOT be able to book if
- Another guest has booked that slot
- Your calendar is blocked during that slot
Passes FAQ
Q: How should I price my Pass?
A: When setting up your Pass, Swimply will show you a recommended price based on your listing’s price and expected use of the Pass. We highly recommend using the suggested price, but you do have the ability to change the price if you prefer
Q: When do I get paid?
A: You are paid the full dollar amount of the Pass (minus Swimply’s service fee) after the pass holder’s first booking is completed. If the pass holder does not book at all, you will be paid at the end of the month when the Pass expires
Q: Do Passes auto-renew?
A: By default, Passes auto-renew monthly. You can disable auto-renewal at any time from the Swimply website or mobile app.
If your Pass is set to auto-renew but your host modified or discontinues the Pass, we will notify you.
Q: What happens if I need to stop selling a Pass?
A: In the “Passes” section of the Marketing tab, you will be able to enable or disable Pass sales at any time. Keep in mind that if you disable sales, guests will no longer be able to purchase Passes, but any guest who previously purchased a Pass will be able to continue to use the Pass until it expires.
Q: How do guests find and purchase my Pass?
A: Once you set up a Pass and enable sales, guests will be able to see and purchase the Pass on your listing page. They will also be able to see which listings have Passes in search results.
Q: How do guests use my Pass?
A: After purchasing a Pass, guests can book through the normal booking flow on your listing page. The Pass will automatically apply.
Q: Where can I see which guests currently have Passes?
A: In the “Passes” section of the Marketing tab, you’ll be able to see which guests currently have Passes, along with their Pass expiration dates. Note that a guest can only have one Pass per listing.
Q: What happens if I need to cancel a guest’s Pass?
A: In the “Passes” section of your listing settings, you’ll be able to see which guests currently have Passes. If a guest has bought but has not used a Pass for any bookings, you will be able to cancel the guest’s Pass. The cancellation will automatically issue a full refund to the guest, and you will not be paid. If the guest has used the Pass for any bookings, you will need to contact customer support to cancel and issue any refunds for unused time.
Q: What happens if my guest wants to make a booking that exceeds the limitations of a Pass?
A: There are several situations where guests may exceed the boundaries of a Pass:
- If a guest makes a Pass booking that exceeds the time window of a Pass, or if they exceed the maximum number of hours, they must pay for the additional hours
- If a guest makes a Pass booking and wishes to add extra amenities, they must pay for the additional amenities
- If a guest attempts to make a booking that exceeds the numbers of guests allowed on the Pass, they will need to pay full price for the booking. Currently, there is no way for guests to pay partially for the extra guests they bring
